Chapter 50 - Embrace This Moment

I feel all bouncy and happy from the moment I woke up. I can’t believe I was sick like that for such a short time. I hope I will never be that sick ever again.

Ben is still sleeping and I gently get out of the bed. I slip into my sweatpants and sweater to walk Theo.

The air is not as chilly outside as it was last week. I can surely feel the spring in air.

Theo is running around chasing rabbits and trying to catch crickets.
Theo and I return to the house. Ben is still sleeping.

I feel sorry for my snappy behavior towards him and I decide to surprise him with a romantic dinner.

I open the fridge to see what’s there. I laugh when I see the big amount of seafood in there. “That’s a no-no.” I laugh out loud.
I grab olives, peppers, ham, cheese, tomatoes and eggs. I can make Tapas out of this, only if I have tortillas.

I open the cupboard and find a bag of tortillas.

I grate the cheese over the tortillas and put them in the oven. I boil the eggs so I can fill the tomatoes with egg mash.

I mix the other eggs with baked potatoes and bake it till it’s done. I set the table while everything is boiling and cooking. I even add a candle to make it more romantic.

I turn off the stove and run upstairs to change my clothes. I pick my red mini dress with bare feet.
“Ben, wake up love.” I whisper in his ear. He grunts and turns around. “I’ve got a surprise for you downstairs.” I say.

“Hmmm, what kind of surprise?” He asks while rubbing his eyes. “You’ll see. Come on.” I pull his arm to get him out of the bed. “Now you get dressed while I finish the surprise downstairs.” I order.

He does what I tell him to do and I run downstairs to finish the table. It takes Ben ten minutes to get dressed. He enters the kitchen and I turn around with a smile.
“What is this for?” Ben asks. “For you. For being so sweet to me even when I am mean to you.” I blush.
Ben walks up to me and grabs my hands. “Anytime.” He says with a smile. I lift my head for a kiss.

“Now lets eat before it get’s cold.” I say while pointing at the table full of food. “No seafood?” Ben asks and I shake my head with a grin. “No seafood.” I agree.

“Wine or beer?” I ask Ben. “Beer please.” He replies. I should have known. I hand him a bottle and pour a wine for myself. “No Sangria?” He laughs. “I did not have time to make any. But I want to learn how to make it someday.” I reply

We eat in silence.

“This was great.” Ben says honestly.

“Better than fake paella?” I ask with a grin. Ben throws a olive at me. “Actually, yes.” He agrees. I catch the olive and stick it in my mouth. “You know, I never liked olives till recently.” I admit. “I ate one by accident and now they’ve became a little addiction to me. I eat them at least once a week.”
“Lynn, the Olive Princess.” Ben laughs. “What would that make you? Ben, the Paella Prince?” I giggle.

Ben tosses another olive my way. “Stop it miss.” He laughs. I raise my hands. “Okay, okay. I won’t do it again….. Today.”

We clean the table together. We keep teasing each other. “What was that with the unicorns and the elves?” Ben asks me and I look at him. “What?” I ask.
“You were telling me to keep the unicorns and elves away.” He continues and my mouth falls open. “You poisoned my mind with your unicorns.” I laugh. “I can’t be held responsible for what I say when I am sick or asleep.”

“I will keep you safe from all unicorns and elves if you ask me to miss.” Ben says. He leans in for a kiss. I grab his cheeks and pull his face closer. “Hmm, I’ll hold you to that.” I mumble against his mouth.

He lifts me up on the kitchen counter and our kissing gets more passionate.

My dress is on the floor before I know it. Ben unbuttons his jeans and we make love there on the kitchen counter.

“The kitchen is still a mess.” I grin. Ben and I are curled up on the couch, still naked and sweaty. I stroke the hair from his forehead. “That was fun. Can we do it again?” Ben asks. “What? Sex on the counter? Or just the sex?” I ask. “Both.” He replies.

My hands slide down across his belly, down south. I can feel he’s ready for another go.
I get up and straddle him. “Sofa okay too?” I ask before kissing him. “Hmmm.” He mumbles.

I lift my hips and guide him inside me.

My legs hurt from all the action.

“Bunny.” Ben whispers in my ear. “Says the biggest bunny?” I laugh.

The sun is coming up and I yawn. “We are switching day and night here.” I say. Ben pulls me close to him. “I need to be back in my regular rhythm before Suerte opens its’ doors.” I continue. Ben muffles me with a kiss. “Don’t worry, just embrace this moment.” He whispers.

And I know he is right. He is always right.

We snuggle for hours on the sofa. I feel jetlagged and I know I need to get some sleep. I am stubborn. I need to get my biorhythm back on track if I want to run a daycare properly.

Four more days till Monday. Four more days till I open Suerte for real.

We take a nap in each others arms till we are awakened by Theo whining.
“You need to go out?” I rub my eyes and look at the poor dog. He is looking back at me with big eyes, wagging his tail. I guess that’s a yes.

I get up and look for my underwear and my dress. I slip them on and take Theo outside for a walk.
I sit down on the grass, letting the sun touch my face while Theo is running around. I close my eyes and lean back on my elbows, a wet nose touches my cheek. I open my eyes and giggle. “Not getting enough attention Theo?” I laugh. He barks softly and runs away. I get up from the grass and run after Theo. We play for a while, running back and forth through the garden. I throw sticks that he gladly returns.
“I love you silly beast.” I scratch him behind his ears. “Let’s go inside.”

Theo follows me back inside and takes his place on the couch next to the still sleeping Ben. “Wake up sleepyhead.” I kiss him softly on his nose.
His green eyes open and look at me. I stroke his hair from his forehead. “Good afternoon.” I grin. “The weather is great outside. It’s actually warm in the backyard. Come on.” I try to pull him off of the couch but he pulls my arm and I fall on top of him. “Nice try.” I giggle while trying to get away from his strong arms. “Shut up and kiss me.” Ben laughs and he lifts his head for a kiss.

We kiss for a while but then I break free from his grip. “I want to go outside.” I jump up and down. Ben grunts and gets up from the sofa. “Okay okay. Let me find my clothes first.” He grabs his jeans from the floor. “Is it really warm?” He asks and I nod. I already have one foot out the door and he joins me, only wearing his jeans. I look at him walking around on the grass, followed by Theo. A smile spreads across my face. That sexy and gorgeous dude is mine. All mine.

We sit outside till the sun goes down and it’s getting too cold to stay.

Ben orders pizza and I choose a movie to watch. It’s going to be one of those cozy nights together. We did not have many of those yet with all the things that need to be done and having company every other day.

I light some candles and start the movie. I curl up against Ben on the couch. “Down With Love? Really?” Ben mutters.
“Yes, I happen to like that one.” I nudge him and he twitches. “Okay, just this once.” Ben grumbles.

I like it when he lets me win.
